Indo has been blessed by days of flawless swell. Stacked lineups have been stretched out to the horizon at a whole range of the archipelagos favourite setups. Just last week, the strongest pulse of swell of the year so far graced hundreds of islands – and boards couldn't be waxed quick enough, arms not moving fast enough to paddle out on an endless cycle of inch-perfect cylinders.
Our MSW Photo section has been love bombed by images from all stretches across Indonesia – and the season's just getting into the swing of things. Starting from late June and up until this weekend, it's been non-stop – sure, a few dips in size in between, but still surfable, still pumping.
Last week, July 3, the swell capped out at 9.5ft@17 seconds at Uluwatu, rifling in from the SSW for one of the greatest sessions we've seen in recent times. And on Sunday, it again fired up to 8ft@16 seconds from the SSW, with fresh E wind.
On the ground was Trevor Murphy, he told MSW: “Typically the winter surf season in Indonesia has a three different moods; Slow and steady, pulsing and moody and pedal to the metal.
“Fortunately, as of this June, the Indian ocean has had her foot on the gas and doesn’t look like she’s letting off it. From Nusa Tenggara to Java, the trade winds have been grooming the large South west swells to epic perfection.
“Places like Lakey Peak and Desert point have been mind-bendingly good. And up in the Mentawais, it's been business as usual with flawless conditions in a dreamlike setting, truly a surfer's paradise.
“I personally have been lucky enough to have been chasing swells up and down the entire archipelago. Here are a couple frames from the last couple weeks and with more solid swells on the approach I may need a couple more hard drives.”
Like Trevor says, there's more on the way, stay tuned.

Incredible trip last week and incredible season so far. 3 swells in one trip is super rare and light, variable winds is even more rare. The Indian Ocean is on fire! We still have 2 spots for the next 2 trips and if you can pull it off, you'd be crazy not to jump on it. - Ray July 13 - 23, 1 spot July 23 - Aug 3, 1 spot #alldayraysurfreport
