Puerto Rico is the Caribbean's iteration of the North Shore of Oahu. And although surfing usually focuses on Rincon, on the west side of this tropical haven, there is surf in the north east too. Start off in the capital of San Juan, and if crowds do not phase you, then playa Aviones will be a great place to begin your journey. Stretch further east though, and there's a variety of nooks to hook into. The Luquillo region is a safe bet, with a fairly exposed beach that would soak up a northerly swell. Look for south west winds.
