One of the most picturesque of surfing spots on Aruba. Rarely busy, even
on weekends, Dunes or Dooms as the locals call it, is a classic surfing
spot. Behind you is wide beach, with a rugged coastline, and rustic
lighthouse; in front of you the never ending blue. It breaks over shallow
reef and can hold very big waves. Swells can get up to 7 or 8 feet if your
lucky. This is the go-to spot on those elusive after-hurricane swells.
Dangerous though. There is no channel whatsoever so you have to paddle
straight out through the white water . Sea urchins, rips, undertow and
rocks rule the area. This spot is for your average surfer but on big days
experience is a must.
