About タスマニア州

Centred around Hobart the island of Tasmania sits in the firing line of south-west Roaring 40s swells. Dominant wind direction is from the west and with the inlet rich, south-east facing coastline offering numerous options. The most famous wave on this coast, the mutant Shipstern Bluff, does not represent all the waves on the island with lovely long right points and quality beach breaks abounding. Water temperatures vary between a chilly 11 and a tepid 15°C or 52 to 59°F. A relatively new surf destination for the world but has been surfed regularly by Australians since Cedric Cane pioneered it in 1926.

Taken on a pretty good day at Wedge. Not too many out! Plenty of waves even though i missed the peak of the swell. Was taking photos due to a shoulder injury. Bring on 2015 Winter!

Shipstern Bluff
A 3 meters swell coming from S/SW came into Shipstern on a sunny day generating a 5 to 7 meters wave. The legendary dwarf waves inside the main one wasn't present this day. This is still a great experience to see shipstern working, by the surrounding landscape and by the wave itself. A few people were towed-in, but some were paddling as well !
